EARN YOUR THEATER BADGE WITH POPCORN HAT PLAYERS!

What could be more fun than earning your next Girl Scout Badge with the Susquehanna Valley’s favorite children’s theatre company? Popcorn Hat Players Children’s Theatre Company is a professional, ensemble theatre that has been delighting audiences of all ages since 1993 and is an Arts-in-Education roster group as approved by the PA Council on the Arts. Earning your Girl Scout Theater Badge requires two sessions: one trip to see and work hands-on with the Popcorn Hat Players (PHP) at Gamut Classic Theatre in Strawberry Square, Harrisburg; and one session at your regular troop meeting sometime prior to attending PHP.

THERE ARE SIX ACTIVITIES TO COMPLETE TO EARN YOUR BADGE:

1. MAKE A MASK - PHP will will supply masks for every scout in your troop. Scouts spend first half of their meeting creating a skit (instructions provided by PHP) and second half of their meeting decorating the mask of their character. (badgebook requirement #1)


2. SEE IT LIVE! – Scouts attend a show at PHP and see a live, professional performance (badgebook requirement #10)
   
   Following the performance, scouts will participate in a one-hour workshop, where they will do:

AND (continuation of MAKE A MASK above) scouts will perform their shorts skits with their masks on the Popcorn Hat Players stage

Cost: $12 per scout with a 10 scouts or $120 minimum. Two Troop Leaders attend for free.

Cost includes: masks for each scout + instructions for MAKE A MASK sent to Troop Leader, admission to a PHP performance, one-hour workshop training with one of our professional actors at PHP.

Additional family members may attend the PHP performance, but will need to pay $6 per person ($5 per person if the group – including scouts – is 20 people or more.)

HOW TO BOOK A SCOUT OUTING

• Contact Popcorn Hat Players at (717) 238-4111 or info@gamutplays.org and speak with Bri or Krista to find a date that works for you.
• Send a 50% deposit to hold your reservation/workshop.
• Upon receipt of the deposit, PHP will send you masks, MAKE A MASK instructions, and a guide to prepare for your theatre scout outing (glue, construction paper, and other mask decorations need to be provided by the Troop.)
• It is important for the Troop Leader to keep a careful count of the total number of people attending the performance, and to communicate this number and any changes to this number with the PHP Box Office staff.
• The total money due (minus the initial deposit) is paid at the Box Office the day of the performance. The Box Office accepts cash, checks or VISA/MasterCard, however there is a small charge for using a credit card.
