"That thou didst know how many fathoms deep I am in love"
Though Rosalind and Orlando meet in the court, these two both flee into the forest of Arden to escape the plotting of her uncle, Duke Frederick, and his brother, Oliver. They meet again in the wilderness, where Rosalind tests Orlando's love for her by having him pretend to woo her while she is in disguise as herself. Confused? Don't worry, it makes more sense when you see it.
Adopt this couple and test the strength of love against plotting uncles, jealous brothers, the dangers of the wild, confused suitors, and cross-dressing which blurs the line between gender roles. Comedy gold! |
$100 CELIA/OLIVER
(Played by Alexis Campbell/Preston Schreffler)
ADOPT CELIA/OLIVER AND RECIEVE A LIMITED EDITION AS YOU LIKE IT T-SHIRT!
"Oh wonderful, wonderful, and most wonderful wonderful, and yet again wonderful, and after that out of all whooping!"
It is said that opposites attract, and this pair might prove it. Celia is willing to return the dukedom her father Frederick stole, where Oliver tries to keep Orlando from the noble upbringing he is due. Where Celia is so devoted to her cousin that she goes with Rosalind in exile, Oliver so hates his brother that he tries to have Orlando killed! Perhaps is Oliver had a change of heart, he could win Celia's?
Adopt these two to see if love conquers hate. (Hint: it does.) |
$75 PHEBE/SILVIUS
(Played by Amy Alleman Burke/Jeremy Garrett)
"If thou remember'st not the slightest folly that ever love did make thee run into, thou hast not loved."
It's the classic love triangle - Silvius loves Phebe, but Phebe doesn't love Silvius. Phebe loves Ganymede, but Ganymede doesn't love Silvius. Ganymede loves Orlando, because Ganymede is really Rosalind in disguise because she's on the run ... okay, it's a little more complex than the average love triangle. But Rosalind knows that Phebe and Silvius are perfect for each other!
If you adopt these two shepherds, perhaps you can help Rosalind let Phebe down gently and point her towards a suitor that's a bit more suitable. |
"Well, praised be the gods for thy foulness; sluttishness may come herreafter. But be it as it may be, I will marry thee."
Touchstone, the court jester, goes along with Rosalind and Celia when they flee into the forest of Arden. There he finds Audrey, a country maid with whom he's willing to spend the rest of his life - or at least the immediate future. He's not as romantic as the young lovers of our story, but he certainly has a way with words! For her part, Audrey is a bit rough around the edges, but is certainly a lady at heart.
If you like your "romantic comedy" heavy on the comedy, why not adopt the fool and his love? |
