2014 Gamut Theatre Summer Academy (GTSA)
Ages 7-9 and 10-15
Students laugh and learn as they participate in age-appropriate activities and instruction, and rehearse and perform their own play in a safe and fun environment. GTSA is a summer theatre intensive for students ages 7-9 and 10-15. Students are immersed in the study of Theatre, Dance, Voice, Improvisation, Writing, and Stage Combat. Our accredited teaching staff is comprised of caring, creative, and highly talented teachers and professionals who specialize in working with children/youth and have a background in the arts.
No experience necessary. Each intensive takes place over one week and culminates in a Friday night production starring the students. A student can participate in one, two, three or all four weeks!
July 7-11: Classical Theatre Extravaganza!
Kick-off your theatrical summer by performing in one of Shakespeare’s craziest comedies, AS YOU LIKE IT! Students experience Shakespeare’s clowns, the consequences of mistaken identities, and some of the Bard’s strongest and smartest characters.
July 14-18: Classical Theatre Extravaganza II!
*Registration is full for Week 2!
Students can take a second week of Shakespeare study as a build-on to week one or as a stand-alone intensive. Take a twist into tragedy as we explore the classic HAMLET!
July 21-25: From Page to Stage!
One of Gamut’s specialties is adapting classic literature for the stage. Older students will present some of the famous works of Edgar Allan Poe, while younger students will perform the tales of Hans Christian Andersen.
July 28-August 1: Storytelling to the Max!
From tall tales around the campfire to modern improvisation, everyone loves to hear a good story! Learn how to be a great storyteller on stage as we explore folk tales, fairy tales, and fables!
