J. Clark Nicholson
Mr. Nicholson is the Artistic Director and Co-Founder of Gamut Theatre Group. Before settling in the Harrisburg area, Clark performed with several theatre companies in the southeast U.S., including The Warehouse Theatre, The Rolling Rep Theatre, Southeastern Theatrical Productions and also the longest running production in North America, The Lost Colony Outdoor Drama.
Melissa Nicholson is the Executive Director and Co-Founder of Gamut Theatre Group, a non-profit organization that resides at Gamut Classic Theatre, “Home of the Classic Story,” located in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. As an Arts Administrator she has served as Executive Director of Popcorn Hat Players Children’s Theatre for over ten years and Managing Director of PHP’s partner company, Harrisburg Shakespeare Festival, for seven years before the two companies merged in 2001 to become The Gamut. She is a founding member of the Harrisburg Area Theatre Alliance, serves on the Arts & Entertainment Committee for the Ned Smith Center for Nature and Art, and has served as Secretary of the Shakespeare Theatre Association, the national organization of professional Shakespeare theatres.

Director of Development
Thomas has been a core company member since the summer of 2012. Although he initially served as Gamut’s Technical Director, Thomas greatly enjoys the new challenges and opportunities that accompany being Gamut’s Director of Development. Since joining Gamut’s family, Thomas has been honored to play such roles Horatio in Hamlet, Angelo in Measure for Measure, Asher in My Name is Asher Lev and most recently the title role in Coriolanus. In addition to credits with Open Stage of Harrisburg, Thomas has also worked at various theatres across the country including Great Lakes Theatre Festival (Cleveland, OH) and The Dixie Theatre (Apalachicola, FL). He holds a BFA in Musical Theatre from Otterbein University. A native of Camp Hill, Thomas is both thrilled and grateful to be doing what he loves in the community he has always called home.
Public Relations Director
Brianna joined Gamut as a core company member in the fall of 2007. Over the years, her position has changed from Office Manager to Director of Operations to Managing Director, and now Public Relations Director. She is enjoying all of her new tasks, especially maintaining this beautiful website! Brianna also enjoys working on productions as either a Stage Manager or Costume/Specialty Designer. In addition to her work at Gamut, Brianna currently works as a freelance artist, offering her skills as a Photographer, Graphic Designer, and Marketing/Social Media Consultant. She is a founding member and also treasurer on the board of the Harrisburg Area Theatre Alliance.
Resident Scenic Designer
Ian Potter is the Resident Scenic designer for Gamut Classic Theatre/Harrisburg Shakespeare Company. Under this title he is also responsible for scenic design, construction, and painting. Ian holds a B.A in Theatre with a minor in studio arts from West Chester University. Previous technical /design work includes: The Dresser, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, Coriolanus, Measure for Measure, Romeo & Juliet, Rosencrantz & Guildenstern are Dead, Hamlet, Alls Well That Ends Well, Barefoot in Athens (Harrisburg Shakespeare Company), Sleepy Hollow (Pennsylvania Youth Ballet), The Wizard of OZ (Gretna Theatre), The Lost Colony, South Pacific, Oklahoma, The Wizard of OZ, Into the Woods, (The Lost Colony Waterside Theatre). In addition to his technical support of Gamut Theatre, Ian is also a full time actor and theatre educator.
Tara is so excited to be a part of Gamut’s Core Company! Originally from Camp Hill, she earned her BA in Theatre from DeSales University, spent her 20s trying to “find herself,” then found herself in New York City, getting her MFA in Acting from the New School for Drama. Her most recent roles include Volumnia in Coriolanus, the Duke in Measure for Measure, (both with Gamut), Mama/Nun in the East Coast premiere of The Texas Chainsaw Musical! (Bootless Stageworks, Wilmington, DE), and Suzy in Theatre Harrisburg’s Wait Until Dark. Many thanks to Mom, Dad, and Matt for being tirelessly supportive!
