Educational Outreach Tours
Gamut Theatre’s goal is to present quality, professional theatrical productions of the plays of William Shakespeare and other thematically classic works for the cultural enrichment of Pennsylvania’s Capital Region and beyond. Our pledge is to produce innovative, accessible theatre and to provide a community outreach program that educates, entertains and inspires.
Each year, Harrisburg Shakespeare Company produces a comprehensible, edited version of a Shakespeare play and tours it to Middle and High Schools for the entire school year. They have previously toured: A Midsummer Nights Dream, Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth, and Hamlet. Each production is the original Shakespearean text with narrations added to make it really easy for students and adults alike to understand.
Comprehensive and informative study guides are also available for use in conjunction with the performance.
Romeo and Juliet and Poe: Much of Madness are available to tour to your location through May 2013. Talk balk sessions with the actors are included at no additional cost after each performance. Companion workshops are also available for both shows for an additional fee. – call the theatre at 717.238.4111 or email info@gamutplays.org for rates and availability.

Romeo and Juliet
2012-2013
“Did my heart love till now?” Gamut Theatre, the combined theatre of Harrisburg Shakespeare Company and Popcorn Hat Players Children’s Theatre, presents its highly acclaimed educational outreach production of Romeo and Juliet. One of Shakespeare’s most famous tragedies, this tale of star-crossed lovers follows the exuberant and volatile story of Juliet Capulet and Romeo Montague as their young love rises above the contempt of their feuding families.
Recommended for ages 12 and up, the production is extremely accessible, employing Gamut’s unique educational outreach style of combining Shakespeare’s original text with modern “narrations” to bridge the most famous scenes from the play together into an easy-to-understand story. This dynamic show is performed by six highly–talented actors, runs 80 minutes, and each performance is followed by a talk-back discussion with the audience.
This 80-minute version of Romeo and Juliet is perfectly designed for performances at school assemblies and special events.
