Courtesans to Queens was an original showcase of scenes culled from classical theatre. The show prominently featured women's roles and focused on important themes for women: love, marriage and family and the impact of war, politics and class on our lives. The scenes, which presented women of various social classes and occupations, were a mixture of comedy and tragedy spanning from Ancient Greek drama to Turn of the Century farce.

The show was an ensemble production featuring the talents of local female theatre professionals. The producing members of Four Elements Productions also filled the positions of director, actor, costumer, scenic designer and writer.

Selected scenes from the following plays were showcased:

  • A Commedia del Arte Improv
  • Abdelazar, by Aphra Behn
  • Hedda Gabler, by Henrick Ibsen
  • The Importance of Being Earnest, by Oscar Wilde
  • Othello, by William Shakespeare
  • The Dutch Courtesan, by Jon Marston
  • Measure for Measure, by William Shakespeare
  • The Trojan Women, by Euripides
