| More has been written about Hamlet than about any other play. Perhaps it is the dense, contemplative poetry or the spectacular events of Act V or the cosmic, universal issues or the intimate view of the protagonist's struggle. Whatever it is that draws us to the play, it is on the stage when the dramatic movement of the play becomes apparent and the wonder and majesty of tragedy comes to life.
For this production, we converted a dance studio in the Old Harrisburg Waterworks Building into a theatre. The stage was draped and plastered with paper and paint that Hamlet gradually ripped away to reveal the "truthful" white beneath. An ensemble cast of 9 actors filled all the roles, and the tragedy was played out on a 16' x 24' stage.
