| The Lion in Winter details the dysfunctional Plantagenet family's Christmas Court in 1183 at the Castle of Chinon. The games are vicious and the stakes are high - only the kingdom and the crown. James Goldman's witty dialogue and complex characterizations show us how we can do the most hurtful things to those we love, even though it can cause the most damage to ourselves.
Angela Scimonelli (Costume Designer) and Judson Nicholson (Scenic Designer) created a visual world that hinted at the medieval period of the Plantagenets, while combining the barbarism of this brilliant royal family with the modern relevance of their emotional politics.
